Hank in his studio at "On the Hill" in Yorktown, c. 1978. Down the hill at Riverwalk Landing thirty years later
J. Henry Viccellio is a master goldsmith and precious metals craftsman. A Yorktown native, he spent the past 30 years developing his own unique style of jewelry design while living, working and studying throughout the United States and Europe. He studied formally at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and at Virginia Commonwealth University. In his early years as a jewelry maker, he was a founding member of Yorktown’s “On The Hill” artists’ cooperative.
In 1997, “Hank” Viccellio returned home to Yorktown to live and work. His business, Viccellio Goldsmith, has grown over the past several years as he has reconnected with his childhood roots and has rediscovered his deep love of Tidewater, Virginia. Here, he finds artistic inspiration from Yorktown’s resplendent landscape, rich in history and blessed by nature. He is especially drawn to the banks of the York River where he played as a child and where his shop can now be found. Viccellio Goldsmith is “down the hill” in the new waterfront development, Riverwalk Landing on Water Street in historic Yorktown, Virginia.
